9M (est. 2025) is a service from Tokyo, Japan, founded by record collector Jeremy Elkin for other passionate collectors.
The term "9M" was Plastylite's internal customer code for Blue Note Records. You can find it scribed in the deadwax of the majority of early 12" pressings through BNLP4067.
Each record has been critically and conservatively graded for both visual condition and audio playback using a tube-based system with mono and stereo cartridges.
Each disc has been ultrasonically cleaned and packaged using Japanese anti-static inner sleeves, cardboard stock disco sleeves and dual resealable archive-grade Japanese outer sleeves—one for the jacket and one for the disc. When the condition of the vintage jacket is anything less than factory mint condition, we have repaired seam splits and removed dirt or stains to the best of our abilities when possible. If a subpar seam repair has been attempted by a previous owner, we typically leave the seams and laminate as is.

逆輸入 [Gyaku Yunyu] is a term used to describe a consumer object that became popular in Japan during its overseas release window, before being imported to Japan, eventually being "re-exported" back to it's country of origin many years later. This especially applies to Blue Note’s catalog, as the independent label struggled for many years before releases like Lee Morgan's Sidewinder and Art Blakey's Moanin' hit the charts. The Japanese have been importing copious amounts of recordings from the U.S.A. and England since the birth of the industry in the early 20th century. Kissatens were started by the Japanese as a way to reproduce high-fidelity American sound. Today, kissaten-style listening bars exist all over the world.
